The minimum spacing requirements for lock installation varies from model to model. Please refer below for specifications:
The spacing requirement is an absolute minimum of 4.5 inches of flat space from the edge of the door to any glass moulding, paneling, decorative beveling or moulding. This is not only to accommodate the spacing requirements for mortise that goes through the door but also so that the lock face can sit flush on the interior and exterior of the door.
Our mortise locks can accommodate door thicknesses ranging from: 1-9/16″ to 3-1/8″ (40-80mm).
The standard mortise comes with a handle/mortise shaft that supports door thickness of 1-9/16″ to 2-3/8″ (40-60mm). If your door ranges from 2-3/8″ to 3-1/8″ (61-80mm), please contact us before placing your order so we can provide you with the correct shaft size for your door. Additional costs will apply.
Large mortises are also available. Some doors may require a large mortise if the lock is to be installed on an existing door with larger holes or if the door is particularly heavy. In these cases, we may suggest a large mortise to suit your needs. Please contact us for further details!
This doorlock can accommodate both a 2-3/8″ (60mm) and 2-3/4″ backset deadbolt (Edge of the door to the middle of the hole).
Minimum spacing requirement from the edge of the door to any glass moulding, paneling, decorative beveling or moulding:
For 60mm backset: 3-3/4″ (95.25mm)
For 70mm backset: 4-1/4″ (108mm)
This lock supports door thickness of 1-3/8″ to 2-5/32″ (35-55mm).
Doors fitted with storm doors must have a minimum spacing distance of 70mm clearance between the door and the storm door (Door Jamb).
